DIPLOFACE meets citizens to talk about politics in the digital era

Postdoc Patrice Wangen spoke about the promises and dangers of social media for our democracies  at an event organised by the citizen collective “Vegder Denkfabrik” in St. Vith, Belgium. Originally from this German-speaking region of Belgium, Wangen engaged in a dialogue with its citizens about the challenge of fake news, filter bubbles, and whether social media can serve to renew engagement between politicians and citizens in times when many of the latter are disenchanted with politics. In connection with the event, he also talked to the BRF and Grenz-Echo about these topics, insights from research done at DIPLOFACE, and about what it means to be a political scientist.
